Every book added to the bookshelf is a plus. But it is more satisfying when it is a good book. When readers love it…when they laugh uncontrollably in the train, plane, metro or the bus while reading a funny scene or when they frown their faces, touched by a sad portion in the book or when their hearts pound when they read through an anti-climax.

Een boek voor de liefhebber van gedichten. Pilgrimage of no Retreat is een tijdreis door de wereld van mythen, legendes, liefde, de natuur, revolutie, tribute, metafysica, politiek en gedichten die leiden tot een scheur in uw ogen met de verhalen die ze vertellen. Het boek presenteert gedichten uit de hele wereld door een zeer intelligente Kameroense geboren journalist en dichter uit Rotterdam. De titel is misschien dan ook wel een beetje symbolisch…”Pilgrimage of no Retreat”, een bedevaart van geen terugtocht naar de wereld van zeer goede poëzie. 50 gedichten die iedereen gelezen moet hebben. Volgens mij is het boek van Larry Bate Takang de canon van de moderne Afrikaanse poëzie. Mijn verbazing was zeer groot. Lees zelf. Marieke
